Glasses and the child
Watch the wearing, not the frames. A prescription is only a treatment while it is on the face.
The short version
Glasses that live in the school bag correct nothing. Most of what goes wrong with children's glasses is not optical: the child does not notice the difference yet, the frames pinch, a classmate said something, or nobody explained what the glasses are for. The fixes are human: a child who chooses the frames, a routine that puts them on with the shoes, a teacher who knows, and a parent who watches the wearing rather than the lenses. This topic also covers teaching a four-year-old and a fourteen-year-old to tell you what they see, because a child who can describe blur is a child who gets help in time.
